LGBTQ+ Affirmative Statement – May 2024

Sue Lambert Trust provides specialist, professional, clinical support to anyone living in Norfolk who has experienced sexual abuse or sexual violence. Our mission is to provide a safe, respectful and welcoming space for all survivors of all genders, including transgender and otherwise gender diverse people.

We exist to help anyone who seeks our support to heal, rebuild their lives and recover from the trauma of sexual abuse or sexual violence. And we are proud to affirm that this professional, specialist support is available, for free, to anyone aged 11 or over, including transgender and otherwise gender diverse people.

As a kind, safe and supportive charity, respecting, valuing, and listening to our trans and non-binary clients and colleagues is an important part of these values. We recognise that diversity and inclusion only makes all of us stronger, providing opportunities for us to learn from each other, and grow together. The range of support services we provide for our clients
reflects this.

As well as providing one-to-one therapeutic sessions with professional, qualified counsellors, Sue Lambert Trust also offers group support to enable our clients to heal and rebuild their lives.

Studies have shown that trans and gender diverse people are more likely than their counterparts to experience some form of sexual violence, abuse and crime at some point in their lives*.

Our group support programme includes a regular LGBTQ+ drop-in group, co-designed by clients and LGBTQ+ facilitators, which welcomes transgender and gender diverse people. The group is a safe space where clients come together to share, connect, talk, access support and take part in activities to help them on their healing journey.

We are always open to new ideas which can help us to evolve and improve this group and further develop our provision, so that we continue to provide the best possible support to anyone who needs us.

We will continue to listen to our LGBTQ+ staff and clients and welcome any feedback.

Any ideas or comments relating to our LGBTQ+ support group can be emailed to groups@suelambettrust.org or general feedback about how we can further develop our LGBTQ+ provision can be emailed to info@suelambertrust.org.
